Below is a listing of items we look for and informational items about applying. It is not a complete listing and only displayed to help you get your site ready to apply for our award. Reading our criteria is a must. Do not apply for our White Swan Award without fully reading our posted criteria.
You are the webmaster/mistress of the site you are applying for.
You are over the age of 13.
Your application is dated between the 1st. through the 15th. of the month. Any application not dated between this time frame will be disqualified.
You have completely read and understand the conditions, criteria, purpose, privacy and ethics statements and comply with each of them.
By applying for our award you are giving us the permission to use a screen shot of your site if you are a winner.
You agree to display the award on your site, should your application be successful, with a link back to this site being appreciated.
Your site is "Family Friendly". Must be labeled as such.
Is in English or has an English translation.
Contains no vulgar or offensive language.
Does not have a horizontal scroll bar at 800x600 resolution.
Consists of at least 5 pages of original content.
Is complete and has no "Under Construction or Coming Soon" signs anywhere on the site.
Does not contain irregular text. ( EXamPle )
Has a separate area for awards received and has no resized or altered awards on display.
You understand that all decisions are final.
Has real content, has some purpose, aim or a message to impart, is entertaining or educational and has something to share with visitors to your site.
Has no major grammar, punctuation or spelling errors.
There are Privacy and Copyright statements.
Alt and Meta tags are present.
Navigation is simple and there is a way to return to the 'home' page from all pages on the site.
You checked internal and external links.
Graphics are original or credit given.
The password that must be in your application is "Swan".
Reading the criteria of an award program is the most important part of applying for awards. By reading the criteria, meeting it or exceeding it, is the way to win awards. Please do not blame any award program if you fail to fully read their criteria and do not win their award. It is your personal responsibility to understand what is needed to be able to score enough points to win!
